Less pollution

High gas prices have done what legislation has failed to accomplish. Reduce pollution by getting people to think about their driving habits. Public transit is now running at an all time high and I would suspect bicycle sales are climbing. Here is an exerpt from CNN (I do not normally quote them but hey, WTF)
"The Department of Transportation said figures from March show the steepest decrease in driving ever recorded.
Compared with March a year earlier, Americans drove an estimated 4.3 percent less -- that's 11 billion fewer miles, the DOT's Federal Highway Administration said Monday, calling it "the sharpest yearly drop for any month in FHWA history." Records have been kept since 1942.
According to AAA, for the first time since 2002, Americans said they were planning to drive less over the Memorial Day weekend than they did the year before. "
We are all carbon based lifeforms, ironically we now have the "carbon tax, carbon footprint, carbon credits, carbon management." These are all designed to keep you in line. We have had a 100 year run in driving a personal vehicle and let it control our lives. It is time to take a cold hard look at the situation. Now don't get me wrong, I do not think this Co2 has caused the Al Gory Story of global warming (Count Floyd from SCTV said reeeeeaaaaallllly scarrrrrry kids), but the bastards are now poised to cash in on this and stick us with the bill. "Bad consumer bad, bad bad, no gas for you! Now give us your money you fucked up the planet." This is a con job or more speciffically a NEO-CON job. DO NOT BELIEVE FOR ONE SECOND THE US GOVERNMENT'S CHICKEN LITTLE "THE SKY IS FALLING, WARMING, DIMMING, DEPLETING, ESCAPING TO SPACE). The truth is there is a natural cycle happening all the time, this has been going on for 4 billion years (6000 for the strange sect religious that feel we are a young planet. Whatever). Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury have all recorded higher temperatures in the last 100 years, so stop driving your Hummers, the Vesuvians are pissed and will invade unless you control your urge to go to Micky D'S for a grease burger. The impact that most do not see is the rise in the cost of commercial transportation. There is not one trucking company that does not institute a fuel surcharge, as the price of diesel goes up so does the fsc, this is passed on to the producers, shippers, retailers and eventually us. Everthing you buy in a store has been trucked at one time. Everything. The trucking industry delivers your food, clothing, furniture, computers, tv, stereo, ipod, booze, pet food, gardening, sporting goods, vehicles to the point of purchase. Then you pay the piper, end user, end of story. You might drive less but you still pay the price over and over. The "free market economy" is not free, speculators have driven the price of oil to these record highs not the supply and demand equation. It is time to re-invent the wheel. Shut down Wall Street.

Dead man talking again

From the truth will set you free.

Rita Katz folds S.I.T.E. Institute and opens SITE Intelligence Group. Can another Bin Laden tape be in the making?
From the now deceased web page: S.I.T.E. Institute
After several years of public service, the SITE Institute, a non- profit organization, has ceased its operations. Its assets have been sold and the proceeds transferred to other non-profit organizations consistent with the educational and charitable mission of the SITE Institute. Some of the activities formerly conducted by the SITE Institute will now be carried out by the SITE Intelligence Group, a for-profit entity.
To learn more about the SITE Intelligence Group, please visit www.siteintelgroup.org.
Whatsamatter, there, Rita Babe? All those doctored up "Bin Laden" videos catch up to your old SITE Institute to the point that a name change was needed to keep attention away from your past antics?
And why did you scrub away pertinent info from your new web page? Or did you lose your STAFF of ONE, Josh Devon and just don't have the time for those tedious details?
BTW, Rita dear, it looks like everyone's fav war monger and war criminal at large, GW Bush, is having a little trouble pushing thru his latest "Endless War for Peace" bill thru the US Congress.Guess it's time to dig up--figuratively and literally--Bin Laden and produce one of your videos in which the dead guy threatens us infidels.
Pssst. Here's a hint: This time, don't use an actor faking thedead BL that has recently dyed his beard. Devout Muslim men DON'T use hair dyes.Gotta keep this "War on Terror" narrative on script, dear, so this time, be a bit more discreet in choosing actors from MOSSAD's central casting.
And the next time you just happen to "discover" the latest AQ/BL tape, try and be a bit more discreet in announcing the release of the tape. After all, when you best out the world's intelligence agencies on a regular basis in "finding" these tapes, people tend to be a bit suspicious.
P.S. One more suggestion: It might make your latest incarnation of SITE more believable if the IP address wasn't the same as another MOSSAD asset, MEMRI. See, you both have the same 67.19.162.130 IP address.
Checking with Whois one can easily find IP addresses, so having the same IP number as another MOSSAD asset, well, let's say that some might find that a bit more convenient than necessary.
Kudos to your move to a new location, away from the hustle and bustle of D.C.An added bonus of being located in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland means your only 30 minutes away from the world's largest spy agency, the National Security Agency.
But, you probably knew that when you moved SITE.
With that said, here's hoping you and your MOSSAD buddies the best in your future aL-Qeada and Bin Laden video productions.
Oooh, and BTW, say hi to everyone's favorite "Jewish Jihadist" for me, Adam Pearlman.

space stuff

"Does gravity have inertia?", Meta Research. enjoy.
Some relativists may argue that “space-time” is not simply space plus time, but a higher-level concept that includes the notion of “time”, so the physical principles do not apply. However, the physical principles arise from logic alone and should be immutable, in contrast to the laws of physics, which can change as knowledge improves [[i]]. Moreover, “space-time” is a mathematical concept, which amounts to a fancy way of referring to proper time in relativity (the time kept by perfect clocks), and does not involve any curvature of space. To show this, consider the following mathematical and physical arguments.
Let dT be a coordinate time interval (an idealized time in some specific reference frame) for a moving body, and let (dX, dY, dZ) be the change in the body’s space coordinates during that time interval. Next, let ds be a path length in “space-time” for the body during the same interval; and let c be the speed of light. Then the standard relation between space, time, and “space-time” (with no gravity acting) is:

Multiplying the coordinate time interval by the speed of light has turned time into a length-like coordinate (meaning a time interval measured in meters, not to be confused with a "space-like interval" as used in GR). This change of units allows the time interval to be combined with the coordinates for the three spatial dimensions. However, the presence of a minus sign makes the combination un-length-like; i.e., not the equivalent of space plus time treated as comparable length-like coordinates. So to see the physical meaning of the space-time parameter s, first note that the parentheses enclose the square of the distance traveled by the body. But distance is just velocity v times the time interval dT: . So our first equation above becomes:.
Moreover, if the body travels through a gravitational field having potential f (; note the minus sign, following the astronomical convention wherein potentials are negative) at a distance r from a source mass M, then s is a “curved” space-time path length along a geodesic path (a free-fall path through a gravitational field), and our preceding formula generalizes to what is called the “Schwarzschild metric”:

Finally, divide each term by c2, which converts the length-like interval ds into a time-like interval that we can readily identify as the elapsed proper time for the body, dt, as defined in the theory of relativity:

In this form, we can see the space-time interval ds as a purely time-like interval dt that was merely made to look length-like through multiplying it by c. This is what we mean by saying that curved space-time does not involve a curvature of space. The only effects in the relation between coordinate time and “space-time” are the clock-slowing effects of velocity and gravitational potential.
Because this point is of some importance, we will illustrate it physically as well. Consider the geodesic (orbital) path of the Earth with respect to the Sun in Figure 1. If we choose any two points along that path (call them A and B), note that a straight line between A and B (as could be represented by a taut rope) is a shorter path through space than the geodesic path. Precisely the same remarks would be true if the Earth were replaced by a photon whose path is bent with respect to space as it passes the Sun – a taut rope takes a shorter path through space than the photon does. The extra bending is most easily explained as a refraction effect in the space-time or light-carrying medium [[ii],[iii]]. This again illustrates that “curved space-time” geodesic paths do not involve any curvature of space.
The contrary viewpoint in many textbooks has been a source of confusion for physics students for the last generation. For an extreme expression of this contrary viewpoint in support of the geometric interpretation of GR, see opinions by Robert Wald [[iv]]. Yet the fact that space does not curve just because "space-time" does would come as a surprise to many students of the history of relativity, who tend to think as Riemann did. However, even in Misner, Thorne & Wheeler's text that popularized the geometric interpretation of GR [[v]], we find the following caution: "But if there was one reason more than any other why [Riemann] failed to make the decisive connection between gravitation and curvature, it was this, that he thought of space and the curvature of space, not of spacetime and the curvature of spacetime."
This is an important concept. If the curved path of a body through space is not caused by a curvature of space, then space remains Euclidean (flat) and an external force is still required to produce and explain any deviation from straight line motion. Moreover, some explanation other than curved space is needed to understand the equivalence-principle-like property of gravity.

Paul Craig Roberts

Anglo-American Ascendancy Lost in Unnecessary WarsBy Paul Craig Roberts13/05/08 "ICH" -- - -In a new book that will infuriate the fake conservatives who inhabit the Republican Party, Patrick J. Buchanan documents how British self-righteousness, delusion, and hubris destroyed both the British Empire and Western ascendancy in two unnecessary wars launched by a small cabal of morons that ruled BritainChurchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War shows that the two world wars that destroyed European civilization began when England declared war on Germany, thus dragging in the Empire, Commonwealth, and United States. This was a strategic blunder unparalleled in history. Mighty Britain emerged from World War II as an American dependency.Buchanan cites such British notables as F.J.P. Veale, B.H. Liddell Hart, and C.P. Snow to document that it was Winston Churchill who committed, in Veale’s words, “the first deliberate breach of the fundamental rule of civilized warfare that hostilities must only be waged against the enemy combatant forces.” It was Churchill, not Hitler, who first targeted civilian populations in World War II and caused the structure of civilized warfare to collapse in ruins. The Americans quickly adopted Churchill’s criminal policy of attacking civilians, culminating in the outrageous use of nuclear weapons against two Japanese cities, the slaughter of Vietnamese civilians, and the ongoing slaughter of Afghan and Iraqi civilians. A popular American myth is that “the greatest generation” saved the world from Nazi tyranny. As Buchanan points out, the fact of the matter is that the Normandy invasion in June 1944 played little, if any, role in Germany’s defeat. By the end of 1942 Hitler had lost World War II at Stalingrad, long before any American troops appeared on the scene. What the Normandy invasion achieved 18 months later was to keep the Red Army from over-running all of Europe.Although Buchanan’s book is about how the British destroyed themselves, Buchanan is clearly thinking about America. In the closing pages Buchanan shows how the Bush Regime has broken from the sound policy of President Reagan and is replicating the British folly of self-destruction. “There is hardly a blunder of the British Empire we have not replicated,” laments Buchanan. The distinct American hubris that we are “the indispensable nation” and the braggadocio that we are an “omnipower” has us overcommitted in alliances that we cannot fulfill. Despite 25 percent of the Iraqi population killed, injured or displaced, the “world’s only superpower” cannot even control Baghdad. To deal with the pointless war we started in Afghanistan, we have had to sucker our NATO allies into a conflict that is no concern of theirs. Militarily overextended and with a faltering economy and collapsing currency, the cabal of morons that rules America still hopes to attack Iran, Syria, and to drive Hezbollah from Lebanon. American idiots in think tanks are busy at work drawing up plans about how the US is going to check China and prevent her emergence as a power beyond US control. The Republican presidential candidate has boasted that he will challenge Russia and bring Putin to heel. Amazing. The world’s greatest debtor is going to take on the two powerful countries with the largest trade surpluses. According to the World Factbook, an annual publication of the CIA, Russia’s 2007 current account surplus is $465 billion and China’s is $363 billion. In contrast, the US current account deficit is $987 billion--an amount larger that the total deficits of all other countries in the world combined. The out-of-pocket and already incurred future cost of Bush’s wars of aggression is between $3 and $5 trillion, every dollar of which must be borrowed. That comes on top of the unfunded liabilities of the US government totaling $53 trillion. By any account the US is the world’s worst credit risk. The “mighty” US relies on foreigners to finance its consumption, its wars, and the daily operations of its government. When Buchanan looks at the collection of idiots that comprise America’s ruling class, he despairs. In truth, American power is already broken, and the country is already lost. The country is lost, because the brownshirt Bush Regime has destroyed the US Constitution with the complicity of the opposition party and the federal courts. There is no organized power that can restore the Constitution or even much concern that it has been overthrown. The country is broken, because American capitalists have moved offshore so many US manufacturing, engineering, and research jobs that US imports now exceed US industrial production. American dependency on imported manufactured goods, advanced technology goods, and energy is astounding. Moreover, the dependency is escalating dramatically. In March 2002, prior to Bush’s decision to impose Israel’s will on the Middle East, oil was $25 a barrel. Today oil is $125 a barrel, a five-fold increase that has seen our oil import bill rise from $145 billion in 2006 to $456 billion presently, a $300 billion addition to a trade deficit that was already running $700-$800 billion annually. There is no possibility of the US closing its trade deficit. The US is able to survive such enormous deficits only because the US dollar is the world reserve currency. This role for the dollar is nearing an end as the world looks for more stable stores of value. Although oil is still nominally priced in dollars, in reality it is being priced in euros as oil producers raise the dollar price with a view to keeping their oil revenues at a constant purchasing power in euros. When the dollar loses its reserve currency role, foreign financing for US trade and budget deficits will evaporate. US living standards will collapse, and the indispensable omnipower will be just another washed up country. For a world weary of “American exceptionalism,” this can’t happen too soon.

The Last Roundup
For decades the federal government has been developing a highly classified plan that would override the Constitution in the event of a terrorist attack. Is it also compiling a secret enemies list of citizens who could face detention under martial law?
By Christopher Ketcham
05/05/08 "Radar Magazine" -- - 28/04/08 --- -In the spring of 2007, a retired senior official in the U.S. Justice Department sat before Congress and told a story so odd and ominous, it could have sprung from the pages of a pulp political thriller. It was about a principled bureaucrat struggling to protect his country from a highly classified program with sinister implications. Rife with high drama, it included a car chase through the streets of Washington, D.C., and a tense meeting at the White House, where the president's henchmen made the bureaucrat so nervous that he demanded a neutral witness be present.
The bureaucrat was James Comey, John Ashcroft's second-in-command at the Department of Justice during Bush's first term. Comey had been a loyal political foot soldier of the Republican Party for many years. Yet in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, he described how he had grown increasingly uneasy reviewing the Bush administration's various domestic surveillance and spying programs. Much of his testimony centered on an operation so clandestine he wasn't allowed to name it or even describe what it did. He did say, however, that he and Ashcroft had discussed the program in March 2004, trying to decide whether it was legal under federal statutes. Shortly before the certification deadline, Ashcroft fell ill with pancreatitis, making Comey acting attorney general, and Comey opted not to certify the program. When he communicated his decision to the White House, Bush's men told him, in so many words, to take his concerns and stuff them in an undisclosed location.
